Abstract :
The calculation of the distribution of field lines in an insulating structure is important in studying the properties of insulation. Based on the analysis of the relationship between field lines and the flux function in axisymmetric electrostatic fields, the differential equation which the flux function should satisfy is derived, and a method for obtaining the distribution map of field lines in an axisymmetric field by the finite element method directly is given. In order to examine and test the method described, two examples are considered
