Abstract
Highlights some important aspects of bond graphs which are generally not mentioned explicitly. It is argued that bond graphs are a graphical language rather than a method. The semantics of this language are emphasized. Modelling of the dynamic behaviour of physical systems, engineering systems in particular, may have various purposes; general understanding, design, simulation, analysis, etc. Most emphasis is usually put on the quantitative aspects, especially on the more or less exact simulation of the system behaviour. It is mainly the qualitative aspects of physical systems modelling that are discussed
