Abstract :
This paper presents a parallel-tabu-search based method for maximizing the available transfer capability with the FACTS devices. The competitive and deregulated power market needs more flexible system operation. To meet the requirements, the FACTS devices have been developed to smooth power system operation and planning. However, it is hard to determine the optimal allocation and parameters of FACTS devices due to the complicated combinatorial optimization. In this paper, the parallel tabu search is proposed to evaluate them efficiently. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated in a sample system
