  • Abstract
It is noted that many consultants fail to adequately appreciate, or sometimes understand, the report production process. The author focuses on three key components of this process-audience analysis, information organization, and writing style. By analyzing the audience and determining its needs, organizing the reported information to meet those needs, and using the appropriate writing style, the consultant can avoid the problems all too often found in technical reports. The object of persuasive report design is to present a conclusion/recommendation to the client. By looking at the structure of a remedial investigation/feasibility study report, the author explains the importance of an engineered approach to report production
