Abstract
The finite difference time domain (FDTD) technique can be used to simulate radiation from small arbitrarily tapered slot antennas. Simulation of radiation from a simple antenna´s flare is used to illustrate how the shape of the wavefronts radiating from the flare are well defined within a wavelength or so of the flare. Qualitative aspects of the antenna pattern can be estimated from inspection of these wavefronts and used studying the antenna´s design
