Abstract :
The paper details the wireless TDMA IS-136 protocol with the purpose of developing the simulation model. Then we use the simulation model to measure the performance of the forward and reverse channels. For our call model, heavily loaded with page messages, the optimal values are: PCH (paging channel) displacement=2, PFC (paging frame class) =1, and non-PCH slots=0. For this case the non-PCH throughput in the forward channel is 11000 busy hour call attempts, and in reverse 15 messages per second. These figures are for one out of possible 3 TDMA channels per link
