  • Abstract
One of the objectives of the electricity market is to reduce energy demand, through efficient use. The street lighting sector is one of more consumption and less efficient. In recent years, many countries are promoting action plans to promote the reduction of energy consumption and pollutant gas. This paper analyzes the potential savings from outdoor lighting installations. Also, the different lighting systems and technologies are described, and the measures to be taken for energy savings, increasing the quality of the street light. Finally, a technical-economic solution is raised to renovate inefficient installations, through the incorporation of Energy Service Companies.
