Abstract
The authors have demonstrated a doubling of the dispersion using the mirror backed transmission grating. This is accompanied by a reduction in the bandwidth obtained. It is possible, by adjusting the index modulation and the mirror angle, to position the peak at any wavelength in the telecommunications fibre window. There is still excellent polarisation insensitivity and good agreement with coupled wave theory has been obtained
