Abstract
The authors have been investigating the effectiveness of dispersion compensation techniques implemented at the microwave intermediate frequency of a heterodyne coherent detection receiver. This builds upon and develops further preliminary ideas proposed to date for single span systems in which the total chromatic dispersion of the fibre is relatively modest. Specifically, they have investigated theoretically and experimentally the effectiveness for chromatic dispersion compensation of dispersive microstrip structures which shall be discussed later
