Abstract
The University of Surrey has achieved a leading role in satellite engineering via its construction and launch of four low Earth orbit satellites (1981-1990) and its introduction of a unique MSc in satellite communication engineering in 1984. Together with an extensive research programme in satellite communications and space-craft engineering as well as a short course programme and schools activities, the University now covers the whole gambit of satellite education and training. This has led in 1990, to the foundation of a multi-disciplinary satellite engineering research centre at the University. The author describes the MSc course, the short courses and continuing education, research and the new satellite centre at the University
