Abstract
Initial work has been carried out on a piezoelectric vibratory gyro [PVG], along the lines published and patented by J.S. Burdess (1986). In this gyroscope, the cylinder is made from radially-poled piezoelectric material. The cylinder is metallised inside and out, and the outer metallisation is divided into eight electrodes. The metallisation on the inside is earthed. A closed loop technique provides a measure of the rotation rate
