Abstract
Organism¿s DNA genes are expressed by regulatory and functional proteins which group together into a sequence called motif. Finding motifs in a collection of sequences is a fundamental problem in Bioinformatics. This paper presents a method based on genetic algorithms by MotifSearcher system and an analysis of results in comparison with other probabilistic methods. Finally experimental results demonstrate that genetic algorithms are capable of producing better results than Gibbs sampling methods.
