Abstract
TWINKLE uses optical fibre data links to provide immunity from interference, arranged in a dual ring architecture with a form of flood routing in which data flows as HDLC packets in opposite directions. The optical fibres terminate at nodes which contain electrical interfaces, packet switches and bridging circuits. The electrical interfaces enable a wide range of devices such as sensors, activators, terminals and computers to be connected to the system
