Abstract
Summary form only given. A range of PD (potential discharge) diagnostic methods for high voltage plant is described, including the on-site TEV II and PD monitoring equipment. Results for various types of high voltage plant are compared, and results from location measurements in cables and switchgear are presented, with comments on the measurement methods and their application to HV plant. The results show that both monitoring and location methods are needed to gain the maximum benefit from PD measurements on high voltage distribution system plant
