Abstract
A general, simple, and fast method for designing reactive doublers which takes into account the technological limitations of the structures chosen for its realization has been developed. The method is composed of the following steps: characterization of the nonlinear component, design of the doubler using the Burckhardt (1965) equations and nonlinear simulation. It is concluded that computer-aided design techniques make it possible to optimize simple nonlinear structures, like doublers, by a successive approximation method. The quality of the simulation is such that it allows the choice of the most adequate topology for adaptation circuits. The close agreement between the theoretical and experimental results shows the validity of the method chosen.<>
