Abstract
In this work it is proposed to introduce signals and systems concepts through the first course on analog signal processing, with an integrated laboratory component. The course structure, the associated experiments, and experimental results for some experiments conducted is presented. The experiments include addition, multiplication of two signals, observing the impulse and step response of LTI systems, test for linearity of given system, observing the two term Fourier approximation of periodic signals, to “hear” and “see” audio signals. Students taking this course will be asked to take the 25 multiple-choice questionnaire on continuous time systems from the Signals and Systems Concepts Inventory developed by Kathleen E Wage et al.
