Abstract
The magnetic performance of amorphous metal is excellent with a specific loss 25% of that of the better grades of Si-Fe. However the material is very thin, hard and brittle which makes it difficult to work with. The author discusses the use of amorphous metal in transformers, either as ribbon or in laminations and concludes it is worth the difficulty in using amorphous metal because of the reductions in no-load losses
