Abstract :
This work investigates the effect of some EQoS - enhanced QoS - parameters through dynamic system-level simulations. These parameters are used to adjust the EQoS framework mechanisms. Dimensioning and optimization of these parameters are essential since they improve the EQoS frame functionality and consequently the performance of data network is improved as well. Three mechanisms of EQoS, namely call admission control, packet scheduling and quality control, work together in order to permit differentiated treatment amongst 3GPP classes of services. This paper addresses the impact of two parameters associated with admission control and one with the packet scheduler. The studies highlight the behavior of network´s key performance indicators (KPIs) when these parameters are changed at different scenarios, with distinct traffic mix and network loads. The results may contribute to establish guidelines for the correct setup of network parameters, an important task in network dimensioning and optimization, as well highlight EQoS framework gains in terms of user satisfaction and service performance
