Abstract
Much interest is currently being shown in the design of very low noise tuned front-end optical receivers for use in lightwave subcarrier multiplex (SCM) systems. This paper is concerned with the design of a 2 GHz to 4 GHz tee-tuned front end receiver to be realised as a GaAs MMIC. The utilisation of GaAs MMIC technology is desirable as it enables close control to be exercised over component values, however, the use of this technology imposes certain constraints upon noise performance which this work addresses
