Abstract :
The development of portable cellular phone is fuelled by the remarkable growth of the mobile communication market. This makes it necessary to investigate the microcellular propagation environments. A field simulator has been proposed to reproduce the propagation characteristics of the outdoor environment. The detail structure of the field simulator is shown. We calculate field strength distribution, cross-polarization discrimination and fading inside the field simulator using the ray tracing method, where geometrical optics is utilized to trace the propagation of direct and reflected waves.
