Abstract
The author describes how at present, there exist large electricity trading arrangements within Europe. He shows the UCPTE system, which comprises basically the countries of the European Community (except Denmark, the UK, Eire), together with Austria, Switzerland and what was Yugoslavia. Synchronous with UCPTE are Albania, in the South, and mainland Denmark, which is also a member of the Scandanavian trading group, NORDEL. NORDEL, in turn, consists of Denmark, both mainland and islands, Norway, Sweden and Finland (and Iceland). To the East is the grouping which was formerly known as the CMEA (basically the countries of the Warsaw Pact), now termed the Intergraded (or Unified) Power System
