Abstract
Dielectric-grade polymer concrete is a low-cost, easily processable composite insulating material that is energy-efficient in its manufacture. The author discusses briefly the technical properties of polymer concrete which are of relevance to overhead power line insulator applications, reviews the knowledge gained from long-term field trials, and outlines new concepts which can, with further R&D, extend the range of usefulness in both distribution and transmission applications
