Abstract
A voltage switching technique to reduce harmonic components in multilevel inverter design is described in this paper. The scheme makes use of differences in values of the DC voltage sources involved to give a better approximation to the sine wave signal. The voltages are switched on and off continuously in a manner that makes use of all the possibilities of voltage addition magnitudes to produce as many levels as possible. The resultant waveform has less harmonics than the one obtained by the conventional approach.
