Abstract :
This contribution describes a dialogue-oriented software system for computer-aided design in control engineering and control theory. It comprises software modules with programmed algorithms for system analysis, synthesis and simulation, which are necessary for solving different problems in the area of automation. This includes, for instance, frequency plot methods, the computation of control laws and observers, stability analysis or simulation of the system with or without controller or observer. With PIERS a program package has been created, whose main emphasis is placed on ease of handling and on userfriendly interactive application of algorithms used for state-space techniques
