Abstract :
For the deep investigation of electron tubes-such as traveling wave tubes-simulation software is necessary. It helps to a priori analyze the structure, improve the design and therefore speed up the development process. The software used in this paper is the CST studio suitetrade. In detail CST microwave studioreg (MWS) is used for the cold test simulations. The charged particles are included via CST particle studioreg, the successor of MAFIA. The software is based on the finite integration technique (FIT) and includes a sophisticated particle in cell code. The design of the helical traveling wave tube was performed by Teraphysics Corporation.
