Abstract
A 250 kW CW klystron at 4.6 GHz has been developed and tested by Communications and Power Industries, Inc. (CPI) for the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Plasma Physics (ASIPP). Sixteen klystrons are to be used in the Lower Hybrid Current Drive system of EAST (Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak, HT-7U), which is an advanced steady-state plasma experimental device. The klystron has a 5 cavity rf circuit, diode gun, and a collector capable of dissipating the entire beam power. A total of 24 units are on order with the first unit having been tested and meeting all the operating requirements.
