Abstract
Stiffness is an important index of machining centers´ performance. The stiffness of high-speed vertical machining centers named VH1100 is analyzed by finite element method. The finite element analysis model of the machining centers is built considering the linear stiffness of double linear guide rails and the axial stiffness of double ball screw and ball bearing. The deformation of the machining centers is computed for various configurations with the results indicating that the stiffness along the y direction is better but the z direction is worse, the results can be used to optimize the machining centers´ designs.
