  • Abstract
    A modular transputer array with fast I/O has been designed and built for distributed real time TV image processing. It is intended that a version of the transputer array will be used to support the SP4 division, RSRE, object recognition autonomous vehicle research programmes. The design philosophy is that all the data is made available to all the transputers in the array irrespective of need, thereby making for flexibility and ease of algorithm design. A novel scheme for recombining the data from the transputer array elements in real time either for display or further processing is also provided. In addition this work has led to the design of a low cost, low power, reduced component stand alone image processor which is described briefly
