  • Abstract
The ENDECOR Type 1005 GOES Directional WAVE-TRACK Buoy System is a complete data acquisition and processing system. It consists of a standard ENDECO Type 956 Directional WAVE-TRACK Orbital Following Buoy1 and a Satellite Transmitter Unit (STU) packaged in an ENDECO Type 354 Plank-On-Edge (P.O.E.R)2 Buoy. Wave data are transmitted over a short RF link from the Type 956 to the STU Buoy. The raw data is processed in the STU and the statistical and directional spectra data is then recorded on magnetic tape, and transmitted via a GOES satellite to the GOES earth station. These data require no further processing and can be directly accessed over standard telephone lines. This system provides a cost-effective and easily handled platform for offshore petroleum operations and scientific research.
