Abstract :
Two methods for inserting an additional data signal into the standard D2-MAC (multiplexed analog components) signal are presented. Specifically, two methods for doubling the data rate-one using FDM and the other TDM-are proposed and investigated by computer simulation. These two proposals are compatible with the existing D2-MAC system if-in the case of FDM (frequency division multiplexing) the ADS (additional data signal) is sufficiently suppressed by a 5 MHz lowpass filter in the receiver or-in the case of TDM (time division multiplexing)-the receive filter has a bandwidth of 10.125 MHz. In the latter case this is not a stringent requirement for compatibility if the ADS is inserted with sufficiently low amplitude
