Abstract
The first antimonide-based quantum cascade laser (QCLs) to reach a wavelength of 19 μm has been demonstrated by a team from Universit?? Montpellier 2/CNRS in France. The InAs/AlSb QCL made with a double metal waveguide demonstrates, not only the highest wavelength so far for this material, but also record threshold current densities and an operating temperature of 170 K.
