Abstract :
Demand for sophisticated groupware and multimedia-based applications have increased the need for reliable multicast protocols. These protocols have to contend with problems such as feedback implosions and error handling requirements imposed by different multicasting applications. This paper evaluates the existing reliable multicast protocols and analyzes their performance. Among the metrics are reliability, scalability, feedback control, flow control, locus of control, late join/leave and efficiency
