Abstract
The authors review some of the requirements of the fermentation industry for the detection of faults in fermentation processes. They review applications ranging from expert systems to model-based analytical redundancy. They also use techniques of analytical redundancy on biochemical reactor models and fermentation mass balances and brief results of this work are presented
