Abstract
Every design engineer has a PC on which he can run a whole battery of design-assisting software. The workstation described furthers this design assistance so that direct contact between controlling micro and the engineering device is achieved and real time evaluation of the performance of the system can be made. The workstation is based upon a PC whose expansion bus has been extended via a buffer card and a ribbon cable to an external Euro rack. A wide range of I/O boards and support software has been designed to allow easy access to the instrumentation of an engineering system. Initial real time evaluation can now proceed with the PC being the controlling micro
