Abstract
Considers the coding of the LPC-spectral information. Various LPC representations and quantization schemes already in use are addressed, and emphasis is given to predictive coding schemes which represent a fairly new approach to this problem. Following this approach, a vector predictive coder with split-vector quantization (VP-SVQ) is described and its distortion-rate characteristic is estimated. This scheme can be embedded into LPC-type speech coders for low bit-rate applications
