Abstract :
The minitrack on experimental research is introduced. Types of approaches include trace-driven simulation, software monitoring, microcoded instrumentation, and hardware monitoring. Examples of each approach are discussed. The authors conclude with an assertion about the need for the coordinated use of experimental methods
