  • Abstract
A Markov model is developed demonstrating that when availability is the only measure of system effectiveness of interest, even a small reconfiguration delay leads to a violation of the monotonic increase in availability with the number of processors. A measure of system effectiveness, loss probability of a task, is proposed. It captures aspects of performance and availability
