Abstract
A model base in which models are represented using SML (structured modeling language) is considered. A framework for the representation of solvers is given such that it is possible to deduce, from independent model and solver representations, what solvers can be used to manipulate all or part of a given model and what is accomplished by a manipulation. An MMS architecture that draws upon the model and solver representations to support dynamic MMS (model management system) activities is described
