  • Abstract
The continuity of electricity supply to an industrial installation can be vital to the process being carried out. For this reason the arrangement of the high voltage (HV) feeders supplying industrial plants is particularly important, as is the application of the associated switchgear and protection. Insofar as induction motor loads are concerned, the main problem results from the transient voltage reduction which takes place during a short-circuit fault on the high voltage system. The authors consider some typical industrial feeder networks, and assess the protection performance requirements which are necessary to maintain the stability of motor loads in the event of fault
