Abstract :
The present work consisted in the study of Titania/Zeolite catalyzed ozonation for nitrobenzene removal. Catalytic activity of the supported TiO2 is strongly influenced by the heat treatment temperature. Titania/Zeolite calcined at 600°C showed the best activity. An approximate increase of 21% in removal rate was achieved for catalytic ozonation compared with single ozonation. Kinetic study of dissolved ozone concentration showed that catalyst promoted the decomposition of ozone, resulting in the production of radicals. Effect of ambient temperature and pH was also investigated. Ambient temperature exerted a positive influence on nitrobenzene removal, and nitrobenzene degraded more completely in neutral or basic circumstances.
