  • Abstract
    In order to establish the group collaborative system for chemists in chemical collaboration research environment, a groupware named chemical collaboration research environment groupware (CARE-G) was developed based on ChinaGrid support platform (CGSP). CARE-G provided the facility for chemists to communicate in a group, and allowed distributed users to edit a shared chemical or graphical object at the same time over computer network. CARE-G also provides group collaborative management for chemists, including collaboration lifecycle manage concurrency control of shared resource and user management, which can make chemists focus on their scientific research rather than collaboration management. CARE-G makes use of a mixed framework of centralized and replicated distributed architecture. The discerption of application and transmission components in the design pattern was applied, and a middleware was designed to make application and transmission components communicate with each other. This design pattern made the ability of well extensibility for CARE-G. A simple usage illustrates that CARE-G is an effective tools to support the group collaborative work among chemists.
