Abstract
The authors reports on an implementation and testing of a practical algorithm for determining power system critical measurements based on network topology. The critical measurement algorithm is based on a practical observability algorithm modified to identify each critical measurement whose loss would render the network unobservable. A small power system network, the IEEE 14-bus network system, was used to test the algorithm for analysis of various measurement sets. A large power system network consisting of eighty buses and a hundred and ten lines was successfully tested in the industrial environment
