  • Abstract
Since synchronized flow is observed in the real traffic, its mechanism has been investigated in a great deal of traffic models. Various mechanisms have been proposed to explain synchronized flow. In this paper, we proposed a new mechanism, i.e. speed variation dependent randomization. Based on this mechanism, a new cellular automata model is built. The fundamental diagram and spatiotemporal diagrams are studied. We also perform the microscopic analysis of time series data, which demonstrate that the new model could reproduce the synchronized flow. Moreover a spontaneous transition and a disturbance transition from synchronized flow to jam could be observed in the new model. We expect our work will helpful in understanding the real mechanism of the synchronized flow.
