Abstract
Thermal modelling can be used to estimate the temperature distribution in the tissue and from this electromagnetic modelling can be used to calculate the expected microwave signal. Using this technique it has been found possible to reproduce the microwave temperature patterns observed over several regions of the body and also, when using a combination of microwave thermographic and conventional surface temperature measurements, or in some cases microwave measurements alone, to make medically useful estimates of blood supply and the variation of blood supply to particular regions of both tissue
