Abstract
The aim of This work is to present a case study in an industrial facility, specifically, in metallic halide lamp systems. Those systems are composed by capacitors, reactors, igniters and lamps installed on the roof of the building. Due to the heat produced by harmonics, capacitors, reactors, igniters fall from the rooftop in flames and the lamps burn. The main issue recognized on the installation was the harmonic problem. To solve this problem a passive harmonic filter was implemented, improving reactive compensation.
