Summary form only given. In this paper we demonstrate novel configuration of a gain-clamped Er-doped fibre amplifier (EDFA) making use of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in the dispersion compensating fibre (DCF) placed between a conventional two-stage EDFA to saturate the EDF.
