Abstract
A new method for system identification of linear continuous single-input-single-output (SISO) systems based on the Gram matrix is proposed. The proposed algorithm is based on some new properties of the Gram matrix derived in the paper based on the relationship between the Gram matrix and the impulse-response Gramian. It requires only the diagonal elements of the Gram matrix and the time moments, which can be easily obtained experimentally or can be computed from the impulse-response measurements. The method is shown to be computationally simpler than earlier methods
