Abstract
The author attempts to explain the fundamental principles of logic analysers, their functions in digital systems and the much varied applications that modern logic analyser systems address. Two distinct categories are considered: state analysers; and timing analysers. Traditionally logic analysers have been used for microprocessor/software analysis, i.e. disassembly and hardware analysis. Modern instruments incorporated added sophistication and their multi-purpose design allows them to be used for a variety of disciplines
