Abstract
A wireless communication system works more efficiently if link-layer parameters are (adaptively) optimised. We now analytically find a complete link parameter vector for each of many sub-channels which satisfies the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker necessary conditions for throughput maximisation. The tangent line common to 2 (scaled) packet-success rate functions defines the switching point between the corresponding configurations. Our solution can be interpreted and implemented through “pricing” among software agents, each representing a sub-channel. The performance advantage of our proposal over 2 reasonable heuristics can exceed 2 to 1 (126 percent).
