Abstract
Sets out to describe a top down design methodology. In reality a top down/bottom up approach is used in full-custom design. Silicon area as a function of cost against a system approach gives this design philosophy. The various objectives set forth dictate a structured approach to design which results in a regular data and control paths, localised communication and extensive concurrency
